Many people are surprised to learn that Patrick Miller was born in the United States but not in a state—he was born in Washington, D.C. His fondness for “John Deere green” is no surprise, however, given how much he likes to ride and tinker with a John Deere lawn tractor. His other hobbies include biking, playing his guitar and drums, and working on cars. The three words that best describe him: funny, friendly, and stubborn. He likes to cook and his favorite food is pizza. His favorite band is Blink-182 and his favorite book is “Nightmare City,” by Andrew Klavan. At Hillsdale High School, he enjoyed making friends as well as playing varsity football and soccer plus JV baseball. He also belonged to the robotics club. Last fall, he tore his ACL in a football game, leading to knee surgery and a six-month recovery. Getting through that injury was his proudest accomplishment. It was also the subject of his college essay, which helped him gain admission to several schools. He plans to attend Valparaiso University and study business.

Determined, reliable, and motivated describe Miss Lauren Adams who will continue attending Jackson College in the Early Middle College program next fall. In May of 2021 she will have her associate degree in science and will transfer to another college to pursue her dream of working in the medical field. Lauren’s favorites include pasta and the book “The Giver”. Her hobbies/interests are gardening, drawing, painting, anything with arts and crafts, and goofing around with friends. One thing people would be surprised to know about her is that she wants to become the Prime Minister of Australia. An accomplishment she is most proud of is maintaining her optimism and good sportsmanship. One of the things she enjoyed most at HHS were the friends she made and the memories she created with them. Lauren was involved in Cross Country, Track & Field, Key Club, FMP, NHS, Jazz Band, Marching Band, Orchestra, Symphonic Band, and Drama Club.
