5-12-2020

Learning Packets: Today is Learning Packet # 3 distribution day for K-12 students. The fourth and final learning packet is scheduled for May 26.

Chromebooks: Returning students will be allowed to keep their Chromebooks and continue using them over the summer break period.  Graduating seniors with Chromebooks will return those devices as part of the senior checkout process.   The high school staff will contact seniors directly about that process.

Take Out Meals Program: The last day of the take out meals program is Friday, June 5th.  On that day, children will be served meals for one full week.  There is no meal service plan planned during the time of summer vacation.

Important Dates/Events:

Freshmen Orientation (HHS): Thursday, May 28 at 5:30 PM.   This event will take place “virtually” through a link on the District’s website (www.hillsdaleschools.org) and on Facebook at “Hillsdale Community Schools”.  The program begins on  A recording of the program and a powerpoint resource will remain available on the District’s website.

Senior Class Night: Friday, May 29 at 7:00 PM.  This event will take place “virtually” through a link on the District’s website (www.hillsdaleschools.org) and on Facebook at “Hillsdale Community Schools”.  A recording of the program and a powerpoint resource will remain available on the District’s website.

HHS Graduation and Horizon Graduation: Alternate dates and location options are being explored for this event.  With the governor's current executive orders the event cannot take place in the school and large-group gatherings are not permitted.   So our options include having a “virtual ceremony” or rescheduling the event to a later date with the goal of having an actual ceremony with graduates and guests present.  Input from the graduating seniors will help to decide the date and format of the graduation ceremony for both Horizon High School and Hillsdale High School.

Fourth Quarter Grades: The District is allowing parents (students) the option of recording the schoolwork with a typical letter grade or as Credit/No Credit.  That decision may be determined after receiving the student’s final letter grade result for the marking period.  This will be handled in the manner used for the third quarter grades.

Report Cards: Report cards will be sent out in the mail to all students on June 11.

Last Day of School: June 4 is the last day of school for all K-12 students.

Summer School: Summer school programming will be provided for students on a case-by-case basis.  Participation in summer school begins with a teacher recommendation.  Parents and school staff members review the recommendation together and when appropriate, the student joins that discussion.
