    Dear Seventh Grade Parents:

Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year! It is my pleasure to introduce myself to you.  My name is Joanie Peck, and I will be teaching seventh grade math and one section of advanced seventh grade math this year.  This will be my eighteenth year teaching here at Davis, but my nineteenth year overall.  I received my teaching degree in mathematics and language arts from Central Michigan University in 2004, and my master’s degree in middle level education from Siena Heights University in 2009. I am married to my husband Jason and together we have two children.  Aubrey is a freshman and Ryan is a fourth grader.  I look forward to a great year of hard work and I am proud to be teaching at Davis Middle School!

In math, students will be expected to be working at school and at home in order to fully understand the more advanced concepts.  You can expect your son/daughter to have homework typically 2-3 nights per week.   If your son/daughter needs extra help with his/her homework or simply has a question, I am usually available before school around 7:45am and after school until 3:30pm.  I have many expectations for my students here at Davis Middle School and hard work is one of them.

I firmly believe that the best education will take place when the parents, students, and teachers work together as a team.  With that in mind, feel free to contact me by phone at 517-689-1344 or by email at joanie.peck@hillsdaleschools.org.  I also send a daily Remind text message with an announcement and/or homework assignment. This is an app you can download and join my class or  to get signed up for the texts please do the following: for Math 7 classes text @peckmath7 to 81010 for Advanced Math classes text @peckadv7 to 81010. Together we can make your child be successful in school this year.

I am looking forward to working with you and your child this school year.  I assure you I will work diligently to make your child’s classroom environment both engaging and productive.  Thank you again for this opportunity to introduce myself.  Best wishes to you and your family this school year!

    Sincerely,

    Mrs. Joanie Peck
